Hello, today we will be making a character recolor, to do so we will be using the next tools:
<span style=”color: #0000ff;”>[CPK Browser] https://videogamemods.com/xenoverse/mods/cpk-browser-view-and-extract-files/</span>
<span style=”color: #000000;”>this tool will let you extract the files from the vanilla game.</span><span style=”color: #0000ff;”>[Xenoviewer V2] https://videogamemods.com/xenoverse/mods/xenoviewer-v2-libxenoverse/
<span style=”color: #000000;”>this tool will let you preview the models of your mod and see if the recolor was made correctly.<span style=”color: #0000ff;”>[EMB Pack] https://videogamemods.com/xenoverse/mods/embpack-v2-libxenoverse/</span>
</span><span style=”color: #000000;”>this tool will let you extract and repack the texture files of the model.<span style=”color: #0000ff;”>[Adobe Photoshop] https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop.html
<span style=”color: #000000;”>the Software has a free trial, if you cant afford it after that, you can use the next software for free:
<span style=”color: #008000;”>[Gimp] https://www.gimp.org</span></span></span></span>
</span>now lets get started, i will be recoloring goku’s bust gi for this tutorial.
<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”><span style=”color: #008000; text-decoration: underline;”>(1) extract the files:</span></span>
open CPK Browser and open a new file, the path should look like this:
<span style=”color: #ff0000;”>C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DB Xenoverse 2\cpk
<span style=”color: #000000;”>then open the file named <span style=”color: #ff0000;”>[data.cpk]</span></span></span>it will show up a data folder in the left window, you will need to open the folders in this order:
<span style=”color: #ff0000;”>data > data > chara > GOK <span style=”color: #000000;”>(when you open this last folder, some files must show up in the right window, like [GOK.amk] and [GOK.bai]
</span></span>now, we will be recoloring only the chest piece, so we only need one file..
search the file [GOK_000_Bust.dyt.emb], right click it and select “Extract File”.
now a folder named data should have appeared in the game files folder, move it to your desktop, inside that folder you can find the file you extracted.
<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”><span style=”color: #008000; text-decoration: underline;”>(2) Unpack the textures:</span></span>
open up the [EMB Pack] folder, then click and drag [GOK_000_Bust.dyt.emb] to [embpack_v2.exe],
a new folder named [GOK_000_Bust.dyt] should have appeared in the same directory of the file.this new folder contains all the textures in .dds format, those are the ones you want to edit.
the files are all the color set’s used in the game, some of them have specific uses like:
DATA000 – Normal / Base form Texture
DATA002 – Super Saiyan Texture (in the case of saiyan characters)
DATA005 – Super Saiyan 3 (in the case of goku) and Potential Unleashed (in the case of gohan)
<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”><span style=”color: #008000; text-decoration: underline;”>(3) Edition:</span></span>
<span style=”color: #000000;”>now open DATA000.dds on the image software of your preference (in my case i will use adobe photoshop) and change the color of the texture.
</span>everycolor line is one of the colors used by the model (in this case, the chest piece)
the texture should have four lines in this order: Orange > White > Dark Blue > Skin Color. (ignore the green and yellow lines under the main colors)now i will be changing the orange for green and blue for black, it should end up looking like this:
now save changes in the texture and close.
<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”><span style=”color: #008000; text-decoration: underline;”>(4) Repack and Load:</span></span>
<span style=”color: #000000;”>now you have your new texture, so lets repack the file and load it into the game.
</span>this time, instead of dragging the EMB file into [embpack_v2.exe], you will drag the folder with the textures, before that, rename [GOK_000_Bust.dyt.emb] to [GOK_000_Bust.dyt_BACKUP.emb],
then drag the [GOK_000_Bust.dyt] folder into [embpack_v2.exe] and a new [GOK_000_Bust.dyt.emb] file should have appeared, drag that file into the game patch folder located in:
<span style=”color: #ff0000;”>C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DB Xenoverse 2\data\chara<span style=”color: #000000;”>, create a new folder named “GOK” and place the new file inside, run the game and enjoy!
</span></span>i hope this tutorial was easy to understand, since it was made for new modders and people without experience
