Bring Back Bumpers!

----------------------------------------------------------------- Shout-out -------------------------------------------------------------------

First and foremost, a big 'Thank You' to Hugom2 and LukeJC, for creating the original First Person mod (for which this is based), explaining how the mod worked, and then giving me permission to upload it for everyone to enjoy. The shout-out is at the top because without them, this mod doesn't exist.

---------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction -----------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know about you, but I'm a fan of racing games. For my money, the camera angle with the fewest compromises has always been, the bumper camera. Bring Back Bumpers! mod relocates the default third-person, behind the vehicle camera (Otherwise known as a Chase Cam), to a more driving enthusiast friendly camera angle, near the vehicles front bumper. Because the camera's point of view (POV) is so close to the road, the sensation of speed increases measurably. It also allows for more precise vehicle control and response due to the camera being closer to the vehicles front axle.

---------------------------------------------------------------- Mod Details -------------------------------------------------------------------

Using Hugom2 and LukeJC's First Person Mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/justcause3/mods/6) as a base, I modified the camera position for many of the land based vehicles to something closer to the front bumper.

Which vehicles have bumper cameras?

Every land-based, 4-wheeled (or more) vehicle that does not have a weapon that you can fire while driving. That means no motorcycles, and no tanks. If a button press is required to change between driving a vehicle, and firing its mounted weapon, I have created a bumper camera for it. This is so you can still properly drive tanks or other vehicles and still see what you are aiming and shooting at. Every sedan, sports car, truck, commercial vehicle (buses, semi's ext.) and off-road vehicle all have bumper cameras.

I have also adjusted the camera's height from the road to reflect the individual vehicles. Sportier cars have a lower camera for increased perception of speed while larger, higher-riding vehicles like the monster truck (see screenshots for comparisons), tower over smaller car's, as they should.

The only vehicle that should have a bumper camera that does not is the giant construction dozer because it's so big, and the camera's FOV is such, that you can't tell where the edges of the dozer are and the bumper camera becomes more of a hindrance then a help.

Lastly, because you no longer see your vehicle with this mod equipped, you may inadvertently gain a few FPS in cause you either you don't have a great rig, or you've got a bunch of texture mods and ray-tracing shaders, or whatever.

--------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation ---------------------------------------------------------------

1. Go to your steam library 2. Right click on Just Cause 3 and choose Properties 3. Find Launch Options and paste the string below into the box EXACTLY as it appears below. (period (.) included)

--vfs-fs dropzonemp --vfs-archive patch_win64 --vfs-archive archives_win64 --vfs-fs .

4. Navigate to your Just Cause 3 installation folder 5. Copy DROPZONE folder from my mod into the root of your Just Cause 3 install folder. If it asks you to overwrite, click 'OK'. 6. Run the game and enjoy

--------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes ------------------------------------------------------------------

This mod can be used by itself as a standalone, or in coordination with Hugom2's and LukeJC's First Person mod. If you want to use both, whichever mod you install LAST will be the mod that activates since you will overwrite whatever was already in folder.

This mod is also uploaded as "Optional Files" for the original First Person mod. I just decided to do a standalone version as well.

Feel free to use this mod in your media. If you do, send me a link. I'd love to check it out!

Another thing - It takes a good bit of time to test all of these and several vehicles are basically the same but with different permutations. I did not test every single version of each vehicle so it is possible that a particular vehicle camera needs adjusted or fixed a small amount. If you come across a vehicle that needs adjusted, let me know in the posts and I will correct it and re upload. I do not believe this is the case but no one is perfect.

Lastly - Be Kind
