This mod makes a number of changes to make storms feel more natural and realistic:
- Transitions of storm effects (stormy to clear and vice versa), as well as storm-related cloud coverage changes are much slower and more gradual. It no longer seems as if someone just pushed an “INSTANT STORM NOW!” button;
- The maximum cloud coverage during storms is increased from around 85% to 100%;
- The duration of storms is doubled but the time in between storms has also been increased;
- Storm warning time is greatly increased, from 25 seconds to 2 minutes.
Furthermore this mod doubles the duration of days and nights.
As a little side bonus, I made the atmosphere seen around distant planets in space is a bit thinner, as they look rather too thick in vanilla NMS.
This mod is incompatible with other mods that modify GCSKYGLOBALS.GLOBALS.MBIN
Natural Blue Water mod fixes the weird and garish blue water to have a much more natural shade of blue, while also allowing the water to better reflect the colour of the sky.
This mod increases the intensity of sunlight, making all landscapes (and even spacescapes) look more vibrant.
Snow can be searingly bright at high noon times, desert and beach sand will look more vibrant, planets in space will look more luminous and so on.
Spaceship landings in No Man’s Sky have always looked a bit silly, just dropping to the ground at 10+ feet. This mod aims to make landings look and feel more careful by reducing the “drop height” to about 2 feet. Aside from that, the spaceship will not tilt its nose up so much during the landing descent.
This mod makes the terrain look much better than the normal game. This mod doesn’t make the whole world a mountain like other mods.WARNING YOUR BASE AND SPACE SHIP WILL GO AWAY IF YOU SPACESHIP IS ON PLANET. LAND SPACE SHIP ON A SPACE STATION. IF YOU HAVE A BASE IT WILL BE IN THE GROUND!!!

I really liked the Extreme Terrain mod but it hasn’t been updated yet, nor do I know if it ever will be, so I decided to do so myself, and extra.
There are 3 pak files included; One is the Extreme Terrain version of the mod which has all of the values copied over from the Extreme Terrain mod, and it should be known that this version has glitches. By “glitches” I mean that with the Extreme Terrain version, the mountains are so high that you have things like visual clipping (you can see through the ground), and invisible terrain, so this one’s probably best just for screenshots. Another pak file is the stock version, which has the maximum height you can make the landscape without having the aforementioned glitches. Both of these version allow for there to be planets completely covered in water. Finally, there’s the No Water Level Change version which is like the stock version, except keeps the water level as is default in the game so that water planets don’t occur.
Now there’s newly added alternatives to the current mods which make slopes steeper, therefore making clearer defined mountains.
More info on the values changed in the README provided.
To give an idea on the landscape (hills and mountains) increase amount, the non-Extreme Terrain versions make seas deeper, and DOUBLE the landscape height, which you can also see exampled in the screenshots provided.
SAVE OFF PLANET FIRST SO THAT YOU DON’T SPAWN IN THE GROUND.

Edits the FXAA to make it higher quality. There are multiple sub-pixel values to choose from; 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1. The “Darkening” screenshots folder shows the effect between an SP value of 0 and an SP value of 1, where details are lost because of the blending from the surrounding area, which is also shown in the zoomed in/cropped screenshots.
I used quality preset 39 (aka extreme preset), an edge threshold of 0.063, and an edge threshold minimum of 0.
More info on the settings and what they do, in the README provided.
I have all settings maxed out except for motion blur which is off, am using an i7 [email protected] and a PCS+ R9 290, and all I had was a 1 FPS reduction where the screenshots were taken.
Screenshots were taken with FRAPS so they’re like desaturated for some reason, but the AA difference still shows.
MAKE SURE YOU TURN ON FXAA IN GAME.
Slightly improve the look of shuttle type ships by removing the rust!
Retexture of the scanner/binocular UI.
Three files to choose from: Simple, Simple with more transparency, and Complex.
Only the simple texture has very visible lines the other two are more subtle.
P.S. sorry no screenshots of the complex texture as of yet 😛
