Disable Game List Sorting

!!! UPDATED – DEC 4, 2021 !!!

A simple mod to disable the “sort by date last played” from the Game List.  With this mod applied, your saves will always appear in the game list in the same order as the slot numbers they are associated with.  Just like old times!!!

Enjoy,
Jefus 🙂

Reduced Mission Hints and Assists [EXO MECH UPDATE]

OVERVIEW

This mod introduces several mission based QoL changes.  It removes several annoying tutorial missions triggered by having certain items in your inventory (e.g. star charts, upgrade modules).

Furthermore, missions no longer force a default inventory window; your inventory should now remember the tab it was on regardless of the mission you have selected.

Do not install this mod before you have read all the tutorials.

This is my first mod for NMS; please leave any feedback, suggestions, or bug reports in the comments.  Because a mod of this nature is somewhat tedious to test, I have not fully tested all of the missions I disabled; please let me know if I missed something.

INSTALLATION

TL;DR: Extract _notutorials.pak to your MODS directory.

As always, back up your save before installation! I’m not responsible for any lost items, corrupted saves, system crashes, or zombie apocalypses.

  1. Find your No Man’s Sky mods directory:
    1. In Steam, right click No Man’s Sky in your library, and click Manage->Browse Local Files.
    2. In the Explorer window that pops up, go to GAMEDATA->PCBANKS.
  2. Delete DISABLEMODS.TXT if you haven’t already.
  3. Go to the MODS directory. If it doesn’t exist, create it.
  4. From the downloaded .zip file, extract _notutorials.pak to the MODS directory.
  5. Launch your game; if you see a modded game warning, and can play your game, the installation has succeeded.

KNOWN BUGS

The inventory always opens to the starship tab when piloting a starship, regardless of the selected tab when last closed.

It doesn’t work for some questlines; investigating.

All Your Base – Base Building Enhancements

All Your Base – Building Enhancements for NMS Next Generation

*** UPDATE NEWS – Nov 17, 2021 ***
I am currently working on an update for this mod, but am waiting until the next patch (post 3.71) is released, as this will likely result in more changes being necessary. Items shown in strikethru will no longer be available in new version due to fundamental changes to build mechanics.

1) Adds scaling and 3d rotation to a number of buildable items and base Tech:

  • Small, Medium and Large Refiners
  • Power and Industrial Tech
  • Storage containers
  • Trade Terminal
  • Reality Glitches
  • …more to come

2) Separates the infrastructure blocks (such as sphere, cube, pyramid, pipe, paver, etc.) into their own UI subgroup under the Structure menu.  This restores the ability to use Pipe to Paver glitching for those who have purchased various decorations from the quicksilver shop, etc.

3) Pill Lights and Trade Terminals are no longer removed when the parts they are attached to are deleted.

4) Underwater base parts can now be built above water.  Moss Hut is now sealed against water entering.

5) Removes area build limits on medium and large refiners.  Note: Building more than the area limit of 3 may result in refiner contents being lost between loads.

6) Adds the ability to apply wood, metal or stone textures to various industrial tech.

***MOD COMPATIBILITY: Not compatible with any other mods that modify ..METADATA/REALITY/TABLES/BASEBUILDINGTABLE.MBIN

Faster Text Display

!NOTE! The “Branches” section shows you the current release build id’s under:
https://steamdb.info/app/275850/depots/

This mod displays the text faster when interacting with objects or aliens (NPCs).
If you leave the left mouse button pressed (player with keyboard/mouse)
then the text will be displayed even faster.

There are two versions:

_MOD.faster.text.display.pak

Normal version

_MOD.faster.text.display_compatibility.pak

– Same function
– but adjusted and slightly slower delay values
– results in increased and maximum game compatibility

Chemically Correct

Do the game’s chemical inconsistencies ever bother the hell out of you? No? Maybe it’s just me.

Regardless, this mod fixes that.

This is my first mod, fueled by my pet peeve of scientific inaccuracies. It essentially just replaces the icons and elemental abbreviations with artistically correct renditions of how the molecules should actually look (for the most part). It retains the same atomical artistic style of the game, the icons are just slightly altered to match the actual molecular structure of the resources they’re supposed to represent.

Big thanks to monkeyman192 for helping me find all the file locations, as well as Lo2k for his language file editor!

https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/658

Please let me know if there are any inaccuracies in the renditions or any changes you’d like to suggest.

My next goal for a mod is to build upon this to support chemical reactions such as di-hydrogen and nitrogen combinations to create ammonia.

FPS Booster Without Changing UI Resolution (No Man’s Sky NEXT)

Back again for NEXT! Essentially the same as before but I added a new option: Minimal Vegetation!

LowQualityNEXT: Like before, this one will reduce internal resolution and scale, probably it will hurt your eyes but hey, it’s a 7-10 FPS Increase! Won’t change anything related to UI though.

MinimalVegetation: As you might Imagine, Humanity needs to optimize the land by destroying everything for mobility, so most planets WILL look a bit barren (including Lush, sorry). Some special planets are unaffected (I.E. Crystal, Scorched, or the obvious; Dead) so this one can be a bit unreliable at times. Although it will help remove micro-stutter, if you have it. Not really a noticeable increase in performance except if you need the boost, or use both of the mods because you own a heck of a potato (like mine obv.)

This is optimized for Low-End PC, so I don’t know how well it will perform if you have a $5,000 rig. Don’t blame me if something unexpected happens. Although, you probably won’t need this anyway.

I can’t guarantee this will work for you or older/newer version. It does work for me (v1.59) and my curiosity test on NEXT V1.50. So if it works for you, then Enjoy!

CT – Notification Background

CT – Notification Background for Atlas Rises
Author ActionOfLost aka Vectors85, Updated by Forkinator

Modding is current on hiatus on my side, as soon as thing get sorted out in my personal life, I will get back at it and update this mod.

However, in the mean time if anyone has the knowledge and desired to update or maintain this mod, I can promote it to the official download and give the due credit (just PM me and I will give you the master file I’ve started working on and all the reference doc of the change I have).

See changelogs for update detail

A simple UI change that switch the blue background of the notification for faded black, close to what the rest of the UI is.

The background opacity is a little more strong than the rest of the UI, since on ice planet is was hard to read.

This is part of the mod Common Traveler in the UI option module
