This is an alternate future where Goku survived the Cell Games and continued to train Gohan. Later, Gohan had his potential unlocked by Elder Kai and arrived back on Earth to find out that his father was killed in the fight with Buu. This catalyst allowed him to unlock a power far beyond anything he's ever imagined.
