If it gave you an infinite loading screen then it more than likely effected another mod you have as far as the skill code. I suggest putting it in skill create and then generating a new code a few times.

I don’t even have mods installed this is supposed to be my first mod

In that case this is a problem on your end. whenever i first started using mods i kept getting infinite loads. check and make sure you have everything updated and the right version of both the game and patcher.
