Description:

The idea behind this mod, is to create slightly diverse and natural looking environments. I want to adhere to the mood and aesthetics of the vanilla No Man’s Sky, but tweak it to take advantage of the additional processing power available to my PC. 

This mod changes the default density and distribution of the assets in Lush, Frozen, Scorched and Radioactive biomes, to make what I believe are more realistic and interesting worlds. There are dense forests and open plains on the same planet. On some planets, trees grow only near the water. On others, the mountains are covered with trees, but the valleys are open and perfect for driving vehicles around on. There are various rules applied to make a bit more diversity, without having to include oversized assets, or assets that don’t really belong in the biome.

Currently, this only effects the Lush, Frozen, Scorched and Radioactive biomes.

This was created to run with the Visions update, and works with 1.77, however I have checked and it works with Beyond 2.0 also.

Changes in Version 1.1:

  • Added additional variations in Frozen, Scorched and Radioactive biomes. ie: Stone forests in Frozen, oasis’s in Scorched and nuclear wastelands in Radioactive.
  • Added a nice touch to the denser Lush biome, so mushrooms can grow in some forests. 

Changes in Version 1.11:

  • Increased chance of storms in lush biomes – now 50/50 chance (I think).
  • Confirmed the  mod worked with Beyond update.

Background:

I have played vanilla No Man’s Sky on PS4 for over 260 hours commencing on the Day One release of the game. I am working on this mod so that I can begin the adventure again on the PC, with greatly improved biomes that still provide essentially the same No Man’s Sky experience. I am also working on other mods to make No Man’s Sky closer to my dream game.

Known bugs:

  • Audio files not working correctly, still says “suit energy low” instead of “hunger increases”
  • Probably some mistakes in the english text version when aliens are talking to you. I did not adjust all new products to that yet.
  • Some buildings can not be deleted once they are built. Need help with that !  Cannot figure out what allows objects to be deleted.
  • Some buildings have no collision clipping and clipping of the wooden houses has some bugs.
  • Some of the buildings are shootable, e.g. the doublecontainer. If you do so, NMS completely freezes for up to 1 or 2 minutes and you think it completely crashed. Then for some unknown reason after a loooong time waiting the explosion debris appear and you can just go on with your game. Strange but true.
  • Diplos, Sandworms, Caveworms and Triceratops are not shootable.
  • When you land on a scorched dead planet game might freeze for a few seconds !
  • Darc Logos only work on the floor, not on walls.

This mod attempts to re-balance the biomes of planets in No Man’s Sky. Since I first began playing I noticed a lot of barren planets without much variety. This mod *should reduce the number of empty barren planets, and increase the number of planets with trees, mushrooms, etc. This shouldn’t attempt to spawn any biomes that weren’t supposed to be enabled, so the probability of this causing crashing is somewhat low.

 

WARNING- You MAY find yourself under water, inside a cave, in a rock, in a tree, or even underground the first time you start your game with this mod. If you cannot get to your ship or out of whatever you are stuck in, restart the game without this mod installed, move your ship, get out to save, and then try again with the mod enabled.
